I read all 3 books. I’m going to be completely honest with this review.If you want the quick version-story was great but target age of readers unclear. Would classify this as strictly YA with high school type of atmosphere EXCEPT explicit sex scenes.If you want to know the details with no spoilers, this is what I’ve got-The story itself kept me hooked. I wanted to know what was going to happen. It’s extremely important for me to find a book that makes me almost addicted to it. That was great. But what wasn’t so great:The story is about a 21 year old female. It read as a high school girl. She lied CONSTANTLY, whined even more, and spoke like a child. IT DID GET BETTER. In the first book, the childishness toned down about half way through. But then the second book happened and the childishness picked back up. Same with the third. I think the problem isn’t the authors fault. I would very much put this in YA category EXCEPT for the sex scenes. I didn’t mind them because I’m used to Ilona Andrews and Jeannine Frost, who have very detailed sex scenes. But when the story reads as someone who acts and speaks like a teenager, it’s out of place.So either the genre needs to be strictly YA with no sex scenes, or adult paranormal with the characters attitudes, vocabulary, and actions (the main character comments about wanting to stomp her feet when she got mad), more adult.OVERALL, the story and world was great. The age of target readers is very muddled, but great if you can overlook temper tantrums and childish vocabulary “bestest friendest in the whole worldest” kind of vocab. 4 stars!Torn by Jennifer L Armentrout is the second book in her Wicked trilogy. If you haven't read the first book, Wicked, turn back and don't continue as this review will contain spoilers from the first book.Torn pics up right where Wicked ended and wow! So much happened in this book that I don't even know where to start this review. I guess I will start it with what we learned at the end of the first book, that one word that changes Ivy's life forever- Halfling. That small utterance by the Prince in those crucial moments that changed her fated death. The Prince spared her thanks to her blood line but that's a minor worry compared to what's to come. This book follows a quicker pace and a lot of self doubt for our girl. As she struggles with what she is, what she has to do, keeping this secret to avoid being hunted from both sides, and of course there is Ren to consider. Will Ren be able to accept Ivy for who she is? Will she even be able to accept who she is, the good, the bad, and the ugly?I'm trying to keep this review spoiler free but I have to talk about my favorite character Tink! I knew his little butt was keeping secrets and had some stuff up his sleeve but I was still shocked on all we learn about my sweet boy Tink. I won't go into details since again spoilers but if you loved Tink in the first book prepare to love him even more in this book.Ivy goes through a lot in this book and it is not for the faint of heart. There is sex, there is feeding, and there is a lot of manipulation. Some readers may find some things a little harder to digest but I think JLA showed the darkness within the Fae amazingly.Overall I find myself enjoying this series and I am super excited to start the conclusion!
